Happy 2017 guys! (Tho it's already Feb)

In a couple of days, it will be exactly 2 years since I blogged! WOW! So much for making it a beauty blog that will be constantly updated.

I still do want to keep the blog alive but really I just don't have the time.

Even now, I am just typing on my phone just rambling out whatever comes to mind.

Am looking for a show that is light hearted to watch before I go to sleep. Any suggestions for future reference?

12AM thoughts

I realized I have not blog as per my schedule. Just been too bogged down with work, and when I am home, I just want to lounge and/or sleep. Even with the holiday season coming about, the work has not lessen. If fact, it's crazier than ever!

I have a few ideas in mind for blog posts. That will hopefully go up soon. I may start a series,  something that I can easily write and post weekly about. Perhaps.

On another note, this year (as with the last 2 years) I attended the Big Bad Wolf book sale with the bestie. Doing better than previous years - and by that I mean I was really good with my spending, and managed to limit myself, I picked up about 37 books.

Thoughts of this year's BBW: many of the titles are books I saw in previous year's BBW, as for the new titles, there were not many. However, it was great that I manage to pick up complete trilogies or find books to complete my trilogies/sets. But with that said, apart from a couple of books and trilogies, there was nothing newly interesting.

Well, I wouldn't say it's all bad as I was still able to manage a decent haul this year. My dreams of owning a floor to ceiling bookcase full of books is coming closer.

Okay. I am going to sign off now. Time for some TV time before bed (then work the next day! Boring.) Ta...

As i have promised in previous post that i will try to be consistent with my posts, here is a quick update. I am currently working on a post, that would be for beauty & makeup junkies alike. Which would take some time on my end, as i wish to adorn it with pictures and all that jazz, and well, to actually type it all out. So do bear with me. I swear i am not being lazy.

To leave you with something, i took a look back to my old post (way back in Nov 2011), and came across my post about my Bad Beauty Habits and my need to break them. So here is a quick progress: (progress in BOLD PURPLE) and i guess i would grade my progress 1 (being bad – no change) to 5 (mission accomplished)

Bad Beauty Habits

1. Pinching/picking/touching my pimples, black heads, white heads... less, but no, i did not kick this habit [2]
2. generally just touching my face! again, less, but still [2]
3. frowning ALOT! i think all my answers might turn out the same, less, but i still do have this habit. [2]
4. not being consistent with my daily skincare routine well, currently i am still working out a routine that is right for me, so i can’t answer this yet. [2]
5. sleeping with makeup on (tho im MUCH improve on this, its still happening) OH. apart from too-drunk-to-remember nights, i am good with this! so i would say, mission accomplished for this. [4.5]
6. need to wash my makeup brushes more often i would say i score fair for this, could be better, but i pass! [3.5]

things i tell myself i SHOULD do, but i don’t:

1. drink MORE water! i would say i score above average for this. [3.5]
2. eat more fruits and veg mehhh… [1]
3. moisturize more! again, fair. [3]

hello 2014,

yes, i think my hiatus and the lack of blog post (for about a year and more) has killed what minute readership i have. As mentioned in previous blog post, in all honestly, writing takes time and effort - and whether you are a writer or not, one do suffer from the normal case of writer's block. but seriously, i have been too busy (with work and life) and just did not have the mood to blog. i apologize dear blog of mine.

now that that is out of the way, i should probably start with a warm hello to 2014. you can read my farewell bid to 2013 on my Dayre post here.

since the year started and now even the Lunar New Year, i have been trying out new things and even doing things I say i wanted to pick up for ages - like COOKING.

but the major highlight for this year is my new haircut! i finally, and for the first time since i had a say in my haircut, went SHORT!

Having the sudden urge to blog, I did not want to blog about an update about me and my life, I wanted a more fun blog post.

With that, I decided I want to share my finally COMPLETE MAC makeup eyeshadow palette.

Finally a full x15 palette. i feel so proud. it took me awhile to fill this up, as i wanted to only get colours I will wear and will use. and now i am a proud owner of a full palette.

I decided to buy the old palette because I could not justify paying RM120 for an empty palette.

Since completing my palette, I have added more to the collection. hold your panties! It's not much, only x3 single shadows and x1 Pro LongWear eyeshadow.

Baby Breath is a colour i use more as a blush than an eyeshadow. in fact, i don't think i have once used it as an eyeshadow! on my skin, it gives my cheeks a nice pink flush. Hey, makeup has no rules, you CAN wear eyeshadow on your cheek!

As I work in the beauty industry, I do have access to makeup and thus some of these few mentions does not have the final names, but just the working names(wn). Don't get too excited, these are colours that have long been released.

Since we are on the topic of MAC eyeshadows, i decided to also throw in some of the other eyeshadows i own.

A good mix of Mineralized, Cream, and loose Pigment eyeshadows. While I am at this, I am just going to throw in the Paint Pots I have.

i have also ordered the Pigment in Naked (so that is on the way), and i am thinking of getting the Pigment in the colour Melon (such a gorgeous colour, got a mini sample of it and i love it!).

My favourite colours and my most used colours from this little collection are not at all the same (well, some are), but you get my drift...i hope.

The ones that are both favourites and most used are,

• Patina Eyeshadow is a gorgeous and very versatile colour! beautiful for all over the lid on its own, and a very versatile colour that easily pairs with other colours.
• Naked Lunch Eyeshadow is another colour that wears beautifully on its own and paired with others.
• Vanilla Pigment is a colour that looks boring in the little container, but GOSH! so so pretty! it has that shimmer sheen of gold when applied, and instantly brightens up your lid. prefect inner colour colour and to line your under eyes (to create that ever popular K-pop look). but also awesome for all over the lids just to add some colour-and-go.

moving on to favourites, this is a much longer list, and for this, i am going to skip description and such. Just look at the gorgeous colour! i need not say more! :)

you can see that i favour neutral colours that leans towards the purple, burgundy side. i am just a sucker for these colours, across all makeup category - eyeshadow, blush and lip colour.

of leaking ceilings

my current activity lately is reading! i've got my reading mojo on and have been reading a book after the other. but whilst reading just 5 minutes ago, i had the sudden urge to write! to put pen to paper (or in this case, type-blog) and the closest thing i have to a journal is a dairy where i keep track of dates. i have this sometimes, the mood to write-type..and that's why i have kept the blog going, eventho i hardly blog anything of worth or substantial! haha..this post is getting abit..well unlike my usual silliness. but i guess everyone has these moments, some more than others, and i'm having one right now.

i don't know why sometimes when i read..and it comes to a part of the story where it is at that in between stage, where nothing is really happening but that explanation is still somewhat vital, or it introduces the next scene..during those parts in the books, my mind wonders away. i just recently found that about myself. how odd! LOL.

well, my mind just then and right now was/is wondering, thinking, questioning, deciphering, imagining...of everything and nothing at all. odd, but hence my mood to write..but nothing at all to say.

well, the next post will very likely be of book reviews of the books i've been reading.

My handmade mustache mug!

it took me 1 whole day to find a white mug! =__=

and since i was in Pyramid and there's no craft store there,

i had to head on down to OU, Crafts Heaven to get a Ceramic pen!

once i have everything,

it took me give or take one hour to make a stencil,

and draw on the mustache on the mug!

the pen that i bought requires it to be baked after drawn,

so that it will be permanent!

and i baked it for about 30mins, and VOILA!
a mustache mug!

i have always wanted to buy cute mugs!

but see, i dont have reasons to get mugs at all!

dont use them.

but now, since interning, hehe..

(and am obviously using it as an excuse)

i needed a mug for the office,

u know to get drinks and stuff... :D

was so excited to get a mug! LOL

yes, im THAT easily contended!

ANYWAYS,

i knew what mug i wanted!

ever since i saw this picture:

i wanted mugs like these too!

but i couldnt find them..

and then i got the idea from KandeeJ to do it myself!

and so i did.

and one day,

im going to find a set of plain coloured mugs and draw different mustaches on them!

just like the picture above!

#1. What's a nickname only your family calls you?
i dont really have a nick name. they just call me by my name: Chui Yi!

mmm..my girl friends calls me Chui. and some friends call me Purple.

#2. What's a weird habit of yours?
mmm..i wonder if i can call this a habit! but i love to fold my legs. its like my ultimate comfortable sitting position. to cross my legs or to hug them. it doesnt matter where i am or what im sitting on.
oh in the movies, once i sit down i automatically take off my shoes and bring my legs up and hug them, like i curl into a ball on the seat.

#3. Do you have any weird phobias?
yes. drains. everytime i cross one, i fear falling in. and the thing is im naturally clumsy. so that doesnt help. i will always hold on to something or someone when i cross a drain.
also, standing or walking on drains that are covered. u know those bars.

yea. anyways, i get this weird phobia on walking or standing on them. i have a weird phobia that it might like break or its not placed on properly and that it will fall when stood on. and i cant stand it if i see any friends or family that are just standing on them also. i will ask them to move. LOL.

its weird cause ive never actually fallen into drain or have the covers fall on me before. so i have no idea why i have this phobia.

#4. What's a song you secretly LOVE to blast & belt out when you're alone?
nopes, not really. i listen to any kind of music. but i really do enjoy my Disney songs :)

#5. What's one of your biggest pet peeves?
when a person make me repeat something one too many times! as in like if u keep asking the same questions over and over and over again and ive already answered u over and over again, and u still keep asking.
and i know i cannot be nice when i want to be left alone and the person knows this but still disturbs me.
can these be called pet peeves?
owh ive recently found out that i really cant stand the sound of someone chewing gum. especially when they are next to me. and its just chewing gum.

#6. What's one of your nervous habits?
i just cant stop moving. if im nervous i have to move. and sometimes i hop/jump on the spot. and id squeeze my hands together.

#7. What side of the bed do you sleep on?
i sleep alone on a queen sized bed. usually the left side. or right in the middle.

#8. What was your first stuffed animal & it's name?
i dont really remember what my first stuff animal was. but my oldest memory of a stuff animal are 2 little white rabbits. a bigger one and a slightly smaller one. the bigger one is represented by my older sister and the smaller one by me. dont think we gave them names tho.

#9. What's the drink you ALWAYS order at starbucks?
not a huge Starbucks person. but when i do go to Starbucks, i either order the Caramel Macchiato or the Green Tea Latte.

#10. What's the beauty rule you preach.. but never ACTUALLY practice?
mmmm...i dont really preach anything. but i do know and somtimes tell people to drink more water and to be consistent with their skincare routine..but yea..

#11. Which way do you face in the shower?

for the most part, i face away (and slightly to the right) from the shower. but i love to let the water fall on my face. and i do when it is towards the end of my shower..hahha...

#12. Do you have any 'weird' body 'skills'?
no? i dont know. i can trip on absolutely nothing when walking, or just loose my balance sometimes? and i was told by family members that i have the weirdest sleeping positions..is that counted?

#13. What's your favorite 'comfort food'/food thats 'bad' but you love to eat it anyways?
i dont really have a set or particular 'comfort food'. i have weird cravings most of the time. so really, i just eat what i crave. but ultimately, its ice cream. as cliche as that may be.

#14. What's a phrase or exclamation you always say?
OMG!,

DIM KAIII?? (which mean 'why' in Cantonese)

#15. Time to sleep- what are you ACTUALLY wearing?
depending on the weather or room condition: super big loose t-shirt and if its hot cotton shorts or boys boxers (yups!), and if its cold or chilly long sweatpants or cotton pants.

so, i was hungry one night (or should i say morning) and there was no snacks in the kitchen!

which prompt me to stare in the fridge for close to 10 minutes before i decided to make a sandwich!
see, usually i just eat butter on toast..but i know i didnt want that!

and so i experimented! and it turned out not bad! infact it was good (enough) LOL. i mean its not the best sandwich ever made or anything, it was edible!

and tonight i made it again..with the addition of cheese!

of the day/night series:

my tomato sandwich

so, its 2 toasted bread- one toasted with cheese on it

the other piece: (after toasting) i spread a very light layer of dijon mustard

place some salad vege (i dont remember the name of vege i use, just use what u like)

and then place sliced tomato over that

lastly, garnish with loads of black pepper!

sandwich the 2nd piece (the one with the cheese) together,

then MUNCH!

overall, like i said..it turned out well!

and i guess not everyone will like this..especially those who do not like tomato!

the most important part of this sandwich is the tomato and the black pepper! the rest are add ons..

well, its a somewhat healthy snack to much on at night! :P

now, im off to FINALLY study.

1. How old were you when you started wearing makeup?

i think, 14! but it wasnt like everyday!

2. How did you get into makeup?

i dont really remember..i first learn about makeup at 14..and after highschool i wore eyeliner religiously, and concealer when puberty hit! then mascara..then i slowly moved into wearing foundation..and for the longest time it was just that. i think i fully got into makeup i think around 2009, and YouTube was one of the main drive! LOL. i have always liked make up..i like to stare at it, the colours and everything..but i didnt wear it much..i had a tiny collection, but i only started experimenting and wearing them come 2009! naturally, my collection has grown since then! :P

3. What is your first ever makeup item?

eyeliner! black and brown!

4. What are some of your favorite brands?

i dont really have an all time favorite! but i do love Benefit, the colour range of MAC, recently discovered Inglot..and for more drugstore-y: Revlon & NYX..oohhhh..and Korean and Japanese brands..LOL..

5. What does makeup mean to you?

"to enhance one's natural beauty!" and to hide my pimples! :P i can leave the house without makeup, but i dont cause i just feel more comfortable with make up on! i mean i dont wear fully face makeup everyday! but yea...

6. If you could only wear 4 products on your face what would they be?

in this order! 1. eyeliner; 2. concealer/foundation (if this was 2 years ago, it would be foundation then eyeliner); 3. some sort of base to even out my eyelid colour; 4. mascara

7. What is your favorite thing about makeup?

playing with it! discovering new looks one can make with it! and how it can change/enhance a person's look! but mostly i like playing with it! and staring at it! :)

8. What do you think about drugstore makeup vs high end makeup?

i dont really think there is much difference! i mean, there are some really well-made drugstore products and some that are just plain rubbish! but same can be said for high end! only thing, for high end, theres a wider range with prettier packaging! and i guess it one way, u can expect them to be "safe" cause they have an image to uphold, so u can "trust" it..but, i would not buy nameless unknown brand..well, just dont really trust it u know..

9. What is one tip of advice you can give to a beginner?

erhhh....im somewhat of a beginner too..but i guess its practice! i had a friend tell me that i do my makeup better now than 3 years ago!

10. What is one makeup trend you never understood?

the Japanese Ganguro look! i mean, i know its more of a fashion statement thing, but some do achieve this look with makeup..yea..i just dont get it! O.O not insulting, to each their own, but i just dont get it!

just, about 20mins or less ago, i randomly clicked on Selena Gomez's Who Says music video and i watched it!
and I LOVE THE SHOES!!!!!

i paused, PrntScrn-ed it! put it into Paint and edited it.
